How to naturally help indigestion
Millions of people are affected by acid indigestion. Many are turning to over the counter products and even prescription drugs to alleviate the discomfort but you may have what you need in your cupboard.
Possible Causes of Indigestion:
- Eating too fast
- Not chewing adequately
- Poor food combining
- Too much water taken during meal
- Over-eating
- Heartburn
- Abdominal pain
Balanced Diet
One of the most important factors is preparing and eating a healthy, balanced meal. If one or many of the causes is part of a daily eating routine the organs used for digestion will be weakened and cause imbalances throughout the body. This balanced diet and balanced body will assist in the herbs reacting as they were intended as well
Kitchen Spices
Kitchen spices and herbs are part of a balanced diet. They also aid in remedying long-term nutritional deficiencies. In fact, most spices aid digestion and have been added to cooking for their medicinal use for some time. Cooking with the following herbs would benefit one with the conditions listed above:
Bay leaves-added to soup or beans helps prevent gas and indigestion
Cinnamon-use with cooking or simmer milk, add honey and cinnamon for indigestion and gas.
Ginger-tea made with 1 ounce fresh garlic, simmering 10 minutes in a pint of water assists with indigestion and nausea
Aniseed-taken as a tea will help flatulence.
Caraway-aid to digestion process and relieving gas, crush 1 ounce of seeds and steep for 20 minutes in 1 pint of water. Drink 2 TB at a time until feeling better.
