Nutrition, pH and minerals benefit your blood

Jest Chew’n the cud with Dr. Bob

A bit of Blood

·           Supplying our bodies with optimum nutrition gives blood the ability to carry a complement of full-spectrum minerals, which is required to help our bodies provide nourishment for our 100 trillion or so cells.

Having worked with farm animals for years, coupled with my stint of nurses’ training, a bit of blood doesn’t unsettle me. But what did unsettle me for a while, was the responsibility the ship captain dropped on me when I walked aboard that World War II Liberty ship. It was to be my first trip as a deck officer. The captain glanced briefly at my papers, “Welcome aboard, Doctor.”

 I protested, “Sir, I’m not a doctor. I’m your new Third Mate . . .”

“Now you’re both,” he told me. “You’ve got more medical training than anyone aboard. That makes you my Third Mate and our ship’s doctor . . .” For the next full year, I did double duty . . . and incidentally, did see a good share of blood.

Life is in the blood  Leviticus 17:11

My first exposure to the sight and smell of blood was on our family chicken farm; where from age five I watched my father kill and prepare hundreds of chickens for market. More personally, that same summer I accidentally sliced an artery in my ankle with a sharp hoe. Mesmerized by the sight of the bright red blood spurting from my ankle, I did nothing. Only my mother’s quick ministrations saved my life. “Life is in the blood,” the Bible tells us. But not until I studied blood chemistry did I begin to comprehend the far-reaching implications of that statement.

What makes our blood so important?

·        Our red and white blood cells make up our body’s life force.

·        Red cells transport life-giving oxygen and nutrition to and waste matter from all our cells. White cells remove anti-life invaders from the body.

How can we empower our blood?

·        First, by refusing to allow substandard “food” to enter our bodies.

·        Second, supplying our bodies with optimum nutrition gives blood the ability to carry a complement of full-spectrum minerals, which is required to help our bodies provide nourishment for our 100 trillion or so cells.

·        Third, by maintaining a slightly alkaline pH environment for our blood, tissues and organs, we automatically insure the smooth flow of life-giving blood. Incidentally, learning to measure one’s pH is an easily-learned life-enhancing skill.
