“Jest Chew’n the Cud . . .”
with Dr. Bob
Bees used to bug me. We had bee hives on our farm, which my brother Virg and I frequently “sampled.” The bees objected strenuously, and we came home with the lumps to prove it!
But Virg and I got so accustomed to pure, mineral rich, real honey straight from the hive that my family and I don’t eat any other kind if we can help it. We’ve learned the best place to obtain fresh, raw, unheated and otherwise non-adulterated honey may not be from the shelves of most grocery stores. Ours comes from a bee-keeping friend who markets his guaranteed real honey at our local Farmer’s Market. You may have to search to find honey that fits that description, but it’s worth the search. And once you find genuine, unadulterated honey, you’ll “never let it go.”
What’s So Good About Pure Raw Honey?
- · It’s nutritionally superior to any alternative “sugars”
- · Doctors and bacteriologists have pronounced it antiseptic, making it very soothing for bruises and abrasions
- · It’s a healing emollient for skin
- · It’s rich in enzymes and trace minerals
- · Perhaps best of all, it’s “finger-lickin’ good”
- · Beside all that, honey doesn’t spoil or get stale; it keeps “forever”
Those dynamic little bee creatures have found a way to transmit the secrets of their boundless energy to us; a honey of a blessing! That’s the bee’s secret.
My sure-fire “recovery secret” from mid-afternoon slump: I toast and generously spread a slice of organic, whole grain bread with organic, raw butter, topped with golden honey. A really “cool” glass of raw milk completes and balances my pH and nutritional snack with calcium, protein, enzymes and trace minerals. Mmm! Care to join me?
