Mineral Rich Bone Broth-do it yourself
For those eating turkey this Thanksgiving season you may want to save the carcass to make a mineral and nutrient rich broth. Boiling animal bones from organically raised animals allows the minerals from the animals’ bones and bone marrows fortify the broth.  You are not only receiving the minerals from the bone but benefits from the bone marrow as well.

In China, this animal-produced soup is called “longevity soup”, and Native Americas would give their children the bones to suck on and literally suck out the marrow.  The main nutrient that comes from the marrow is the omega-3 fatty acid DHA. So, not only are you getting your minerals such as calcium, magnesium and potassium that the body needs but your omega 3’s to assist your brain, immune system and heart.

This broth is alkalizing even though the meat that we eat is acidic.  When you add apple cider vinegar or the root vegetables it changes its pH making it an alkalizing addition to your diet.

According to “Healing with Whole Foods” by Paul Pitchford to make your own bone marrow broth-break the bones and cook them just below boiling for 18 hours.  Add water as necessary and towards the end add root vegetables which help to extract the minerals from the bones and marrow. When finished, remove the bones and use the broth alone or for other soups.

Remember save the carcass and get started on this mineral rich broth that has been made for centuries. Do it yourself and elimate the MSG's added to commercialized broths.
