Is there a quick way to check foods for trans fats? or vitamins and minerals? Or even excessive sugar? Fooducate is an app that you can download that offers a pretty comprehensive method for monitoring the food you are buying and eating.
This device would not be necessary if we ate like we should; whole foods and supplementing minerals into our diet. Since most of us (Americans) don’t do this then Fooducate may come in handy and can help us eat better.
This app has the ability to read the scanning code found on all processed and packaged foods. Once the food is scanned the screen shows a picture of the food, a letter grade , calories per servings, and product details. While I don’t agree with many of their grades, I like the product details. An exclamation point shows when there are unhealthy ingredients in the food item such as artificial colors, high salt, trans fat and additives.
Below is an example of what the screen will look like when you scan Apple Jacks:

Another nice feature is that you can look at alternatives to that food item. I would recommend strolling through your grocery store and scanning items. You might be surprised to learn what the food you have been buying contains disease-linked ingredients.
Check out the website www.fooducate.com for more information or spend the couple bucks and start taking responsibility for what you are eating and feeding your families.
