Below Sea
vs. Above Sea: There is no health advantage to either
of these coral harvesting practices. Below Sea is less than pure
because the starting material is coral sand that also contains
shell ruminants, sea floor debris etc. In addition this material
is high in heavy metals and must either be super heat treated
to lower these (altering the product) or risk high levels. Some

Below-Sea Dredging
Secondly, the harvesting
practices of dredging the ocean bottom and removing up to 1 meter
(deep) of sea floor is devastating to the marine environment for
multiple reasons. See article “What Scientists say”.
Formula’s:
There are several different formulas for coral calcium. The majority
of them are made with Above sea coral and with few additional
ingredients. There is no added value for such small amounts of
unnecessary ingredients. See Coral Myths.
Legal Issues:
some companies were sued by the Federal Trade Commission
(FTC) with backing of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for
making unsubstantiated and false claims. Secondly, the Coral Calcium
Supreme product has been quarantined by the FDA for evaluation
of lead content due to the product failing safe levels (set forth
by California proposition 65) of lead tests. See press release,
